Description

The next update will contain:

- Playlists.

- Download *.spc and *.rsn directly from your iOS device.

- Shuffle and loop controls.

- Bugfix for clipped start of song.

- Fadeout so it does not change songs abruptly.

Next version or the one after that:

- iPad native interface

SNESPlayer is an app for the iPhone that plays SNES music. Both *.spc and *.rsn files are playable. RSN files are however the recommended choice since they contain collections of songs.

The app uses Background Audio so you can listen to your favorite SNES music when you're surfing the web, riding your bike or just want to relax.

You transfer the files using iTunes File Sharing and it is very easy to get started!

A lot of time has been spent on getting it to work smoothly on iPhone 3G up to the latest model, the iPhone 4.

(You cannot play SNES games with this app!)

A good program, with a few small issues

:
SNESPlayer does a great job of playing SPC music files, and the music sounds very close (if not identical) to the music from the original games. However, there's a few issues I have experienced with it:

-No in-app file management: currently, the only way to manage files is through the Apps section when an iPhone/iPod Touch is connected. Being able to delete files, and possibly have folders, would be very helpful

-Duplicate games: after adding a fairly large amount of SPC files, some games appear multiple times - The music of "Seiken Densetsu 3" shows up as a separate game for every music track

-Cutoff: on some tracks, the first second or two of music is cut out (or skipped)

-Compatibility: Quite a few of the SPCs I added, do not show up in the app. Although I added SPC for about 30 titles, only 10 or so show up in the app.

-Track names: I'm not sure if this has to do with the app or the SPC file, but when I click a game title in the main menu of the app, the music for that game often has no track titles (even though they had titles in another SPC player on the Mac.)

The developer of this app has already mentioned his plans for features in the next update, so he sounds dedicated to making sure things work.

Bring back memories listening to your old SNES game music!

:
I have to say that this is a great app. I don't give reviews often, but thought this app deserved one.
Pros:
No problem transferring files to my iPhone. Easy and simple click and drag. Music sounds great. Easy navigation. Multitask compatible. Overall, real clean and good quality.

Cons:
I haven't had any issues, but I would like to see an in-app .rsn download soon as promised in the next update. There is No playlist option. Add to a Playlist button would be Great!

Great work! Looking forward to the update.

Exactly what I needed

:
Very impressive! Works better with RSN archives versus thousands of SPC files - took a bit to figure that out and the iTunes data transfer thing. I had never used that before, but it's working great and it's simple. Can't wait for playlists! Even still, 5 stars for you. Keep up the good work!
